TOP 5 REASONS TO PREPARE SOLID INTERVIEW QUESTIONS!

BURKE+CO.-www.burketalent.com-InterviewQuestions.jpg

What questions to ask in an interview… sounds simple, but it may be more important than you think!

… The interview is going well- you are feeling it…You don’t want to get cocky, but maybe you have this…and then they ask- “Do you have any questions for me?”

eek… did you prepare for this? This is CRITICAL – and potentially a game changer!

TOP FIVE REASONS TO PREPARE QUESTIONS FOR YOUR NEXT INTERVIEW:

1)     It gives you a very important chance to understand more about the role, your potential future boss and the company– you should be interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you to see if it is a match!

2)    If you don’t ask anything– it can give the impression that you are disinterested or that you are unprepared for this interview!

3)    Make sure you do not ask something you already covered in the interview-yikes… it will question your listening skills. (And be careful not to ask anything that you could easily find the answer to online.)

4)    You don’t want to ask questions about the hours, PTO, can you work from home- these things are important- but better to ask, “What is a typical day like?” The former could have the interviewer questioning your work ethic, priorities and commitment!

5)    This is an opportunity to shine- to stand out! Use this as a platform to highlight something about yourself in the form of a question. Like writing a thank you note, make it personal. (Read more on the interview thank you note HERE) Make it genuine + unique.  Use this as an opportunity to showcase your interest and resourcefulness. Be creative. Be Authentic. Be YOU!

So what we are saying is: smart engaging questions are clutch!

(Pro tip- write a few down on a notebook and bring them with you in case you draw a blank when it is your turn at bat.)

Here are a few sample questions to get you thinking in the right direction:

1)     Is there anything else I can tell you about myself to help you assess if I would be a match?

2)    Can you give me some examples of the most and least desirable aspects of this role?

3)    How do you help your team grow professionally?

4)    How do you evaluate success here?

5)    What’s the most important thing I can accomplish in the first 60 days?

6)    Do you love working with BURKE+CO. as much as I do?! (Just seeing if you were still awake.)
